About Jessie Lopez

Meet Jessie Lopez
Democrat, Santa Ana City Councilmember representing Ward 3, and champion of working families
Born and raised in Santa Ana, Jessie Lopez is the proud daughter of immigrants who came to the United States seeking safety and opportunity. Growing up in a single-parent household, Jessie saw firsthand the sacrifices her mother made – working multiple jobs, including at Hoover Elementary School, to provide for their family. Jessie is a product of Santa Ana Unified School District public schools and benefited from after-school programs that gave her the support she needed, and from a young age, she dedicated herself to giving back – tutoring students at the Boys and Girls Club and volunteering at the local food bank. Despite facing housing and food insecurity, while working two jobs to put herself through college, Jessie persevered and became the first in her family to graduate.
Jessie stepped up to run for City Council because she saw a lack of leadership fighting for the best interests of Santa Ana’s working families. Elected to represent Ward 3 in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, Jessie has delivered real results – leading efforts to expand affordable housing, address homelessness, and improve water quality. She took on special interests by implementing a lobbyist registry at City Hall, ensuring transparency and accountability in government. A proud graduate of PROJECT SELF, Jessie has also championed public safety reforms, secured funding for youth programs, and fought for environmental justice, pushing Santa Ana to strengthen its Climate Action Plan.
Now, Jessie is running for State Assembly to be a voice for working families across California. She knows firsthand the struggles of affording rent, earning a fair wage, and accessing essential services.
As your state representative, Jessie will fight to:

Make housing affordable and address homelessness

Expand economic opportunity and fair wages

Invest in public safety and accountability

Increase investments in clean air, water, and green spaces

Improve quality of life for families in Orange, Anaheim, Santa Ana, and across California
